After reestablishing himself as one of the top catchers in the Northeast Conference in 2026, second-year Nighthawk Nick Quagliato has committed to Boston College for the 2027 season.
“Boston College is a really, really solid program, solid academic school,” Quagliato said. “They're competing for a national championship, too.”
After missing most of 2025 due to injury, the junior slashed .331/.405/.556 for Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2026 en route to NEC All-Conference First Team honors.
“Sarge” slugged a career-high seven home runs and drove in 35 runs, including a ninth-inning game-tying two-run homer against Wagner College on March 8 in an 8-6 FDU victory. The 21-year-old also paced FDU in triples with two and chipped in three doubles.
The backstop made just one error defensively while throwing out nine would-be base stealers.
That production has carried over to this summer with the Nighthawks. Reaching base at a .461 clip through his first 13 games of the summer, the fan favorite and vocal leader has notched six doubles, including five in his last seven contests.
“[BC head coach Todd Interdonato], he saw me play at Newport and it was a crazy story,” Quagliato said. “He wasn't even there for me. He was watching an outfielder on [the Newport Gulls], but I caught his eye. He had one of the assistants text me after the game, hopped on a phone call. Right from there, just hopped on the phone with him the next day. He's a legendary coach. He did great at Wofford [College], and he got that job at Boston College, and he's doing a really great job for the program. The future is bright for Birdball.”
BC went 37-23 in 2026, finishing with a 17-13 record in conference play. The Eagles lost in the quarterfinals of the ACC Baseball Championship before earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals, going 1-2 in the Athens Regional. The NCAA Regionals appearance was BC's first under Interdonato.
A New Jersey native, Quagliato will be staying relatively close to home with one of the most prestigious programs that the Northeast has to offer. Quagliato visited Boston for the first time ever on Friday to tour Chestnut Hill, meet the coaching staff and explore the Harrington Athletics Village.
“Coming from Fairleigh Dickinson, which is like 45 [minutes from home], going to Boston College, was maybe like … three hours. It's a historic program. Great teammates, great coaches. I'm excited to get to work with the boys.”
Before heading to Beantown once August rolls around, Quagliato will stick around in the Green Mountain State and continue to be a key source of leadership for a Nighthawks team that is hoping to make the NECBL postseason for a second-straight year.
“It's special up here,” Quagliato said. “I feel like this place is home.”
